A star update

It seems the only things I do these days is making star quilts. Not that I hear anybody complaining but maybe, just maybe, I should try to make something else soon. Until then please bear with me and all my WIP stars.

Last week I started the Swoon quilt with my Mum when we visited her in Sweden.  I bought the pattern a long time ago but were always a bit hesitant to start it. I’ve seen so many beautiful Swoon quilts in Blog-land and I got more and more nervous about making it. To actually pick the right fabric...

Finaly I pulled myself togeteher, picked up some Kaffe Fasset fabric bundles and dived into it without thinking too hard about it. And holy cow… The Swoon fever hit me hard. It’s been a delightful week swooning – it is truly an amazing block. My Mum is smitten too.

About the size… I definitely like the 9 stars the most but it is simply too big and I really have nowhere to use it. The 4 stars are a more practical size for me but it needs a little … well a little more.

So now I am making a lot of small stars – the geeses are really small but I get to use some of the scraps and you know how that pleases me.

This week I also finished piecing the Made in Cherry quilt top. What to say… I don’t think I really like it. This is a first for me. I find the colors too purple and pink and the star is too big. I think I will fold the top and put it away for a little bit. Hopefully I will find good use for it one day and will want to finish it. Here in Denmark there is really no charity organizations that collects quilts. And would I  give away something I dont love myself anyway? I don't know. Time will tell I hope. I will hold back on the batting and the back until I feel better about it.

Enough about me and my WIP's... Now head on over to Lee's blog to see some truely lovely projects.

  1. Your Swoon blocks with the stars are gorgeous. Love the colors and fabrics. Such a fresh quilt. Sorry you don't like your other quilt. Maybe you'll pack it away and a few years down the road discover you really like it.

  6. Oh swooning! Your swoon blocks are wonderful and I think that adding the smaller stars is so clever. Smart idea to sit on your Cherry Top for a while - you may come back to it someday and really like it. :)

  9. Oh, no! Well I for one love your made in cherry. But I understand since I've done it myself - pieced a top only to realize the colour combo is not one that I can live with comfortably. Maybe it can be a gift for a family member?

  11. Oh, well done on those Swoon blocks. I'm like you - only I'm still hesitating on starting. Don't know why. I think I've got my fabric chosen (for the bazillionth time!).

Glad you're using your scraps too - so cute!
