Wednesday WIP confession

I confess... it's been a few weeks since my last update. And I havn't done much in the meantime either. No chance of meeting my August goals at this point.

I did make 3 of my 6 blocks for the 3x6 Bee but will have to finish the last 3 before I share them. So no real pictures yet... Just a sneak peak

A sneakpeak....

I've also made a small pouch from some of my HomeTown fabric. It's a really practical little thing. Best way to keep a otherwise big, messy handbag organized  :) It's almost done - just need to find a button. This one is going to Sweden with my Mom - I'll need to make some more for myself though... pronto!
Let's see... One larger for laptop charger and all that (yes. I'm a geek in real life too), one medium for the essential toiletries, one small for pens. One smaller for the phone stuff like charger, ear-thingy etc.

Feel like making one too? Here's the link to the free pattern from The Village Haberdashery.

I also managed to make my August BOM blocks . This month they were designed by Amy from 'Amy's creative side'

And here's all the blocks that I've made so far. I've made two of each block from the beginning so I'm up to 24 blocks now. Only one month more to go unfortunately.

That's all for me (and that wasn't much to be honest).
Be sure to head over to Lee's to see lots of super productive quilters  :)

Blogger's BOM august

Here's my August Blogger's BOM blocks hosted by Jackie. Only one more block to go and then we're done.

I have to say this is something I'll miss doing. It's been a thrill to see the new block every month and yet very, very easy to keep up (and let's all just forget that the lovely May block, which caused me to stall for 3 months just thinking about all the itsy-bitsy pieces.. and which turned out to be one of my overall favourite blocks of them all!)

This month designer was none other than the fantastic Amy from 'Amy's creative side' who also hosts the Quilt festival. She made a fun, vibrant block. Over the past three months I've decided to tone my blocks down a little as my my blocks were getting a bit too crazy. So I opted to use 2 tone-in-tone fabrics and dark/white rather than 4 vibrantly different colors. I still love the block though:

I swear - they're not wonky. Just didn't press them yet   :)

And here's all the blocks that I've made so far. Next month there will not be room for my toes anymore  :)

Overall it's been a bit quiet here at my little blog the past weeks. Blame it on the wonderful August weather we have had - here in Denmark we gotta make the most of it when it's finally here.  Also, my new job has been somewhat draining - lots of fun, lots of challenges but also a lot of talking to people all over the organization, trying to make head and tale in what they want and why they havn't succeeded in getting it done before. Most nights you'll find me passed out on the couch by 9.30. New job and sewing creativity does not go hand-in-hand  :)

Wednesday 1 August 2012

August 1st….

Today I start my new job. That means new people, new goals, new office, new organization, new everything. I’m excited… and a little nervous. Make up is applied and bag is packed. But before I can meet the world I need  my morning coffee and a small time out.

Today is a combined Wednesday WIP and ’Just 3’ post so I’m linking up to both Lee's and Tracey’s today. If you’re not running out the door within the next 5 minutes (as I ought to) do make sure to stop by Tracey to see her new pattern released only yesterday. I bought it already and are planning to make a Christmas quilt.

So a quick status… I reached all my goals for July and even managed to squeeze in a bit more (not trying to be an over-achiever – it’s just because I had a long vacation):

1) I made the Bee Europa 2012 wonky log cabin blocks for Amy  (see more here)

2) I did more than 1x1 metre on the EPP project. I decided that I want to keep this as the centre of the quilt and next will be to build on this with borders. Bad indoor night pictures from yesterday late evening... sorry. It started to get dark sooner already and it's raining again here.

EPP progress

3) I finished piecing the 60 degree star quilt – all 325 triangles. I had planned to make a scrappy border but are reconsidering this.  I’m not in a hurry to baste and finish the whole quilt. as I am saving it as a Christmas present.

4) I finally managed to catch up on the Blogger’s BOM which had been neglected since May.  I’m still doing two of each block so I have made 6 blocks this month. They are not pressed yet so bear with the crinkles- just pulled them out of the box for a photo.

5) As an extra plus to clearing the design wall I also organized my fabric – or at least the bigger scraps and fat quarters. I still have a huge shelf with designer bundles and half yards that I have not opened yet but in due time I will :) With this done and an empty design wall I feel ready to start something new and very different.

6) The 6st and final big ting in July was creating my collage for the 3x6 sampler bee which starts today. I recently got some Seranade fabric and are going to ask for blocks in that color range. Have also been though a lot of quilting books to decide what block I want to make for the others. I’m down to 3 now but wont make the final decision until I see the other members collages.

My goals for August:
So that's it for me today. Wish me luck. I'm off to work  :)
